Clubs

books in a cabinet

Description

The Mill Pond Book Club has been a longtime club at MPA. Clara Woll was the facilitator from its inception, but she has now turned the mantle over. Barbara Mayer and Jackie Morrison will be the administrators of the NEW Mill Pond Book Club, which will begin in the Fall. Listen for the robocalls from Mark which will explain a little bit about the new format we will follow.

Then, if you are interested in joining the Book Club, let Mark know and your name will be included on the Book Club email list. You may attend as many or as few meetings as you choose.

The Club meets monthly to discuss books selected by the group. The Club will read books from many genres and we expect lively discussions to follow. Sometimes, the books that people dislike the most engender the best discussions, but varied opinions are always welcomed!

All fully vaccinated residents of MPA are invited to attend.

Required equipment: Nothing except a love of reading and books!

balls of yarn for knitting

Description

The Needlecrafts Club welcomes everyone from beginners to the more experienced. The Club meets once a month, usually on Fridays from 1:00 to 3:00 pm in the Clubhouse.

Many beautiful and creative pieces have been shared with the group. They can only be described as works of art and possible heirlooms which can be passed from one generation to the next.

The Club also encourages beginners. The beginners will be helped and instructed with their projects by our more experienced and gifted members.

All fully vaccinated residents of MPA are invited and welcome to attend. Why not drop in for some craft work and friendly conversation with your Mill Pond neighbors?

Required equipment: Whatever you need for your needlecraft projects.

members of the 5-miler club

Description

During the pandemic several residents realized that many of us were doing a lot of walking in and near MPA, so we organized the 5-Milers Club to do monthly, organized walks of about 5 miles near our community. It remains to be seen if the walks will continue when we put the pandemic behind us.

The leadership for walks rotates among the regular walkers. Leaders announce the day and time and the route (with an accompanying strip map, turn by turn directions, and its distance) of the walk by email. Walks are usually on Saturdays, and they usually begin at 11:00 am on the announced day in the MPA Clubhouse parking lot, and end at the same place. During warmer weather, the walks may begin earlier. If the weather forecast is for unpleasant weather, we reschedule to a different date or time. If walkers want to cut the walk short, they are welcome to circle back at any time, but it is best to tell others that they are leaving the walk.

Want to join us? Contact Richard or Jackie, below, to add your name to our email list. The 5-Milers Club welcomes all fully vaccinated MPA residents and their invited friends and families who enjoy walking for fun, exercise, camaraderie and to explore our nearby communities.

 Required equipment: Comfortable walking shoes
